Three-Spot Grass Yellow is a butterfly found in Asian countries including Sri Lanka. Host plants belong to Fabaceae family. Above photographed butterfly was found close to a stream at the Kanneliya rain forest in June.

Little orange tip is a butterfly found in India and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka it can be seen mostly in arid zones. Sub species found in Sri Lanka is Colotis etrida limbata. Above photograph was taken in Puttalam district.

Orange Migrant (Catopsilia scylla)

Binomial Name : Catopsilia scylla

Orange Migrant is a widely distributed butterfly in South East Asia and Australasia. But it has been identified from Sri Lanka recently. Its upper side of the hind wing is yellow and fore wing is white. Females lay white color eggs on leaves of trees belongs to Fabaceae familiy.

Binomial Name : Eurema andersoni ormistoni
An endemic butterfly of Sri Lanka. Can be seen in wettest areas in hill country and wet zone of low country. It has rounder wings compared to other grass yellow butterflies and a one spot at the base of fore wing cell.

This butterfly lives in South Asia, Southeast Asia and some parts of Australia. In Sri Lanka It can be seen in all over the island. But more common at low elevations. They prefer hot and sunny climate. Lays white color eggs but turns into yellow later.

E. brigitta is a butterfly belongs to Pieridae family. It lives in Asia, Australia and Africa. More than ten sub species exist and the one that lives in Sri Lanka is E.brigitta rubella. It can be found in grass lands and home gardens of hill country.

Common butterfly that can be seen in all areas of Sri Lanka. Apart form Sri Lanka they live in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Even though there are few sub species of this butterfly, the one lives in Sri Lanka is L. nina nina. Its upper forewing has a black spot on a white background.
