Peristylus brevilobus is a rare and endemic wild orchid found in submontane zone of Sri Lanka. Above photographs were taken in April at "Sri Pada" Peak Wilderness sanctuary.

E. lindleyi is a wild orchid found in submontane and lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka. Above photographs were taken in April at Rathnapura trail of "Sri Pada" Peak Wilderness sanctuary.

Common kingfisher is a bird found in lowlands and hills of Sri Lanka. It can be seen close to water. They mainly feed on aquatic animals. Above photographs were taken at Yala national park.

Club Beak is a butterfly belongs to Nymphalidae family. In Sri Lanka it is common in wet zone and highlands. Sub species found in Sri Lanka is L. m. rama. Usually it can be seen mud puddling close to streams. Above photograph was taken close to a stream at Makandawa rain forest, Kithulgala.

Oriental Green-Wing is a brightly colored damselfly found in Asian countries including Sri Lanka. It can be identified easily by metallic green body and the wings. Females are pale in color. This damselfly lives close to streams. IUCN Red List status is 'Least concern'. Above photographs were taken close to a stream at the "Sri Pada" Peak Wilderness sanctuary where elevation above the sea level is about 1050m.

Greer's lankaskink (Lankascincus greeri)

English: Greer's lankaskink
Sinhala: ග්‍රීර්ගේ ලක්හීරළුවා[Greerge lakheeraluwa]

An endemic skink lives in south-western lowland forests of Sri Lanka. It is considered to be a rare species found in the leaf litter and under the stones of the forest. Above photographs were taken at Kanneliya rain rain forest.

Grey-headed canary-flycatcher (Culicicapa ceylonensis)

Binomial: Culicicapa ceylonensis/Platyrhynchus ceylonensis
Sinhala:අළුහිස් කහ-මැසිමාරා[Aluhis kaha-masimara]

Culicicapa ceylonensis is an insectivorous bird found in few Asian countries including Sri Lanka. 
Few sub species of this bird have been identified and the one found in Sri Lanka is C. c. ceylonensis. Its common in Sri Lankan highlands. Above bird was photographed at Hakgala botanical gardens of Sri Lanka. IUCN Red List status is 'Least Concern'.
