Binomial Name : Actinodaphne speciosa
Sinhala : අලි කන් / පොල්කටු [Ali Kan/ Polkatu]
A.speciosa is an endemic tree that grows in central highlands of Sri Lanka. It has huge tough leaves that droop when cold. Due to that reason, it is given the Sinhala name 'Ali kan' with the meaning of "Ears of elephant".
